about

This tune was composed in honor of Recy Taylor. In 1944 Ms. Taylor, an African Ameri- can woman, was raped by six white men on her way home from church. Days after the incident, she would file charges against the men with help from a sharp detective, militant race woman, and rape activist named Rosa Parks. At The Dark End Of The Street by Danielle McGuire illuminates this history and tells a different story about Rosa Parks than we are often told.
